Proven 6kW Wind
Turbine |
|
The Proven 6kW wind turbine can produce enough
power to supply a single house (including a good amount towards
the heating). The three bladed machine
comes with its own self supporting tower (9m, 15m) and can be
connected in three ways:-
- Grid-Tie - (connected into the mains
supply9national grid))
- Battery system - (charges a battery bank)
for remote/'off-grid' locations.
- Heating Only - Used on dedicated heaters.

If your located in a windy place then a 9
meter tower (height to hub) should be sufficient; however, if
you have obstacles such as buildings, trees, hills then it is
always better to choose the 15 meter tower.

Right:- 6kW Proven wind turbine on a
9meter self supporting tower. This picture shows
Proven's new and more sleek twintex blades.
These blades provide more power than the older versions
and are also quieter than ever before.
This turbine requires a concrete base of around 6 cubic
meters and an anchor block of around two cubic meters
(optional) for winching the turbine up and down.
Detailed information can be seen in the foundation pack
(click on the icon beside the appropriate listing on the

What is at the
other end of the wind turbine cable?
In the picture below you can see the turbine control panel (on
the left of picture), 6kW grid connect inverter (right of
picture) and ROCs meter (bottom centre of picture).
These devices are mounted on a
4ft x 4ft wooden board (1" thick).
The ROCs meter is an energy
meter that measures all the energy the turbine has produced in
its life time.

Power Usage; Unlike
the 2.5kW turbine that will provide enough
electricity to supply all of you're electricity needs
excluding heating, the 6kW turbine will produce
enough power to for all your electricity needs.
Obviously peoples electricity needs vary depending on
their house size, family size, lifestyle etc.. so we
base our calculations on the average household
consumption figures.
Annual output;
The 6kW Proven wind turbine will
produce somewhere in the region of 7,500 units of electricity
per year (based on average site wind conditions). |

System
Types; The 6kW wind turbine comes in one of three
different types depending on the system preferred. As
explained in the 'wind
turbines explained' page, the three types of system to
choose from are; battery, heating-only and grid-tie.
Costing;
The grid-tie system is the most popular at around £18,250 (guide
price only).
For those with no mains power
there are battery systems. The battery system includes a
bank of batteries to store the power and so costs a little more
at £25,000 (guide price only). Heating-only systems are
good for supplying power to heaters only, hence the name
'heating-only'. Heating-only is good for draftee old
houses or heating swimming pools/ domestic hot water systems
etc.. Heating only are the simplest and therefore the
cheapest of the three systems. Also, all renewable energy
systems are charged at a 5% VAT rate not 17.5%!
